Session Day Tips

Maternity

1.  We are more than happy to accommodate you during your first, second or third trimester,
however we do recommend that clients have their photo shoot at 7 months.  Your baby bump is
round and just right to have it's picture taken at this point in your pregnancy!

2.  Several hours before your session you will want to make sure not to wear any items with elastic
such as pants with an elastic waistband, brazierre with straps, or socks.  We also like to take close
ups of hands and feet so you will want to make sure those are picture ready.  Moisturize your body
at least one hour before your session and do not use any lotions to minimize stretch marks as this
will make your tummy shiny and not in a good way.  We can always remove stretch marks later.

3.  Eat before your session.  Our sessions last on average two hours if your spouse, children, or
pets will be doing the session with you, so plan your day accordingly.  We do not like to rush our
clients and if you are hungry during the session it will reflect in your portraits.  If the session is
rushed we can not provide you with our best work and you may not be completely satisfied with
your portraits.

4.  We encourage wardrobe changes and coordinating wardrobes if there will be more than one
person involved in the shoot.  We have items available to use that will showcase your tummy.  We
advise not to wear clothing with wording on it as it detracts from the portrait, but if there is
something special you would like to wear bring it with you to photograph in.

5.  Communicate with us the mood you would like to convey during your session.  If you would
like to go with our flow we can do that too, it's up to you.

6.  And last but not least, keep it simple.  We always encourage a classic, "undated" look.  Minimal
make-up and jewelry is always best.

Newborns

1.  We highly advise new parents to photograph their newborn within the first two weeks of birth.
They like to sleep and lend themselves to be handled without being disturbed at this tender age.

2.  No one is happy when they are hungry, much less a new baby.  Baby will want to have lunch
before the session, and we can take breaks for feedings if need be. Our sessions last an average of
two hours, so you will want to plan accordingly.

3.  Babies are small for such a short moment and we would like to capture that moment in time.
We normally have newborns in minimal to no clothing, how ever you feel comfortable.  If you
would like your baby photographed this way, bring them wearing only a diaper and wrapped in a
blanket.  This way you will not have to disrupt their sleep to remove clothing.

4.  Finally, we love to use props in our newborn shoots, so if there is anything you would like to
include, please feel free to bring it with you.  We will also have items on hand to use during the
session.

Families

1.  We can't emphasize it enough...make sure everyone eats!  You don't want any unhappy campers
in the picture.  You want everyone to be relaxed and happy in your portraits and one way to
achieve that is with a full tummy.

2.  Communicate with us the mood you would like to portray in your portraits.  Would you like
candids or "poses" of your family?  Coordinating wardrobes or each of you to dress in your
individual style?  We do discourage wearing items with logos, writing or loud prints, but
ultimately the choice is yours.

3.  Couples are families too.  We enjoy capturing your love for the world to see.  Come see us and
give us the opportunity to do just that.

Graduates

1.  Make sure you eat before your session.  Our sessions last on average two hours or longer
depending on whether you would like us to go onsite.  We encourage you to eat before your
session.

2.  If you have any wardrobe items (sports uniform, trophies, awards, letterman jacket) that you
would like to include in your session please feel free to bring those with you.  This will make your
photographs unique to you and can tell your story as a Senior.  We will also have some props
available to use.

3.  Plan to take your pictures at least two months before your graduation.  This will give enough
time for us to photograph you, go through the photograph consultation, develop your portraits,
and get them to you in time to hand out to friends and family before school is out.

4.  Finally, don't stress out!  There may be times we will be conversing with you and taking your
photograph at the same time.  We want to capture your natural expressions.  Remember, we want
to capture you, not what we think you should look like.

Weddings

Your wedding day is one of the most special and important days of your life.  The best advice that I
can give for this special day is to hire a planner for that day.  So often I have seen brides and
grooms inundated with questions from family and vendors that the couple find themselves more
concerned with the details of the day, instead of enjoying themselves.  Put a little extra aside in
your budget and hire someone to worry for you on your special day!  A good planner will know
the ins and outs of your wedding and can alleviate many of the stresses that can accompany a
wedding.
The tender moments you share with
your child are priceless.  Capture
these on prints you will cherish for a
lifetime!
The journey through parenthood
begins with your pregnancy.  What a
better way to chronicle this journey
than with portraits of you enjoying
this special time.
Your fun-loving children
stay young only so long.
Look back on these special
times in your very own
custom photo album or
DVD to share with friends
and family.
